Well Pards, Let me add this about this club. I have been shooting as regular here for the last 14 years. Some if not all my most fun times happened here with a bunch of GREAT Pards. This was the first club I shot at and set the standard as to what to expect from other clubs. Over the last several years clubs have changed in the way we shoot. There were reasons why they didn't change at Tejas Pistoleros good or bad isn't the question. Now they have changed to be similar to the way most of the way other clubs are shooting Is it the easiest place to shoot with BIG targets in your face as some are now NO. Do all of you really want that? But let me say today was the first time this old fart shot a 10-10-2 stage with movement in the 18 second range in my CAS life. NOW I'm really happy. This may not mean much to you fast guys, but it does to me. So BOTTEM line come on out and have a great time. You can be the ones to make the difference as to what happens to this club. Vaquero is a Spanish word for shoots low to the left I have had several OMVs and most of them shot low and left. 45 Colt seems to be the worst. Don't start with the trigger finger thing. I shoot left and right handed. I know a Smith that made money by Bending the barrels to fix the shooting left. Bending works better than turning the barrel and takes very little bend if your sight is in the proper position which most are.

Hoss, Here is mine. It is a 1983 deluxe model that was imported by Navy arms. Notice it has a oil finish checkered stock. The fit and finish is outstanding. I paid $800 for it in unfired condition 2 years ago. I have added a short stroke kit and a lighter springs. Shoots pretty good. I don't know that an extra $1000 could buy one that much better.

Tripps, Yes in a heart beat. But you have to remember that the lower hammers help the most while shooting one handed. I use my Ruger Old Armys in Frontiersman and Frontier Cartridge Duelist with conversion cylinders. When I shoot two handed I shoot with my 3 screw 357 Blackhawks with stock hammers.

Well Three ways that I know of to get a 3 screw Super hammer. 1 Go to the Ruger Forum . Com. Then put a post in the for sale section for one. Expect to pay $125-150 for one. 2 Have your old hammer made into a Super. This is what I did. I bought New Model Super hammers from Ruger about $35 each then had my Gun Smith weld the Super spur to the 3 screw hammer for around $40. I know a few Guys that have done it this way. 3 Buy an old model 3 screw Super and swap hammers.

I assume you bought NEW Model Super hammers to install in the mid frame 3 screw 357. If that is the case no they will not work. If you bought 3 screw Super hammers they will work. The only way you can get the NEW model hammers to work is to cut off both hammer spurs and weld the Super to the 3 screw hammer. I did that to my Ruger Old Armys.

Good for you. We were on the same posse with you in 2005 at the VA. State Match. Wyandot Jim, Wyandot Kid and 8 year old Grandson Wyandot 3 who won Buckaroo. Son is a Naval Aviator and was an O-4 at the time. I don't remember what rank you were at the time. Son was sent to Afghanistan for a 6 month deployment as a OIC Grunt to support the Marines at Camp Blackhorse 4 weeks after the shoot. He had the Eagles pined on last November and is now instructing in T-45s and is on the Training Command Admiral's Staff. Take care Mud Duck and glad to hear you made O-6, that is a tough one to get.

Sam's got it right. I can hold my own using one. Faster than Matt Black no. Don't shoot in his category but have won a time or two in my category. A lot of it depends on the match. At some I have gone out to eat after even paying the money. If all meals were like this years Bayou Blast. Folks would be beating down the doors to eat. Thanks Possum

Well, If we have enough shooters at our Plainsman matches we just do it. This is at State Matches as well as Annuals. If not enough shooters just suck it up. I love it when I beat the Handi Rifle Guys with my Trapdoor. Yea the Trapdoor is a little slower so you pick up the pace with the other guns. Did it two weeks ago. A good Trapdoor shooter can shoot a 10-6-4 stage with 50-75 yard rifle targets in 35-40 seconds. No I can't but have seen guys that can. At quite a few of our clubs we shoot a Main Match of Cody Dixon. It is a 10-6-4 stage with far rifle targets but with smokeless cartridges. Good practice for Plainsman.

Well, In Texas we tend to shoot a weeeeeeeeee bit further. Six rifle rounds at 50-100 yards. Times are from 45s to 70s for a 10,6,4 stage with movement. 25-30 yards are our main match rifle distance at a lot of clubs

I us a H&R Officers Model 45-70 Trapdoor. Works pretty good for me. The 577 Snyder was sent to me from my Aviator Son while in Afghanistan.
