Dusty Morningwood Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 SOLD PENDING FUNDS WTS a very nice and tight LC Smith/Baker Gun 10 gauge side by side hammer gun dating from the 1880s. Top of the 30” barrels (rib) is marked L.C. SMITH MAKER OF BAKER GUN SYRACUSE, NY DAMASCUS STEEL. Patent dates on watertable are AUG 31, 1875 and JANY 29, 1878. Forend latch patent date is JUNE 1880. The gun locks up very tight on the face like a vault. Bores are generally shiny with typical black powder pitting, but nothing egregious. Metal finish is mostly bright patina with some mottling and well defined Damascus patterns. Buttstock would rate antique very good. Forend is good with two splits that will need attention. Easy fix, but I will leave this to buyer. Includes a very nice vintage 10 gauge hand priming tool. Shipped to your door for $450 USPS Priority Insured. STANDARD DISCLAIMER: Sold as a collectable only. Before shooting any antique firearm, it should be examined by a qualified gunsmith.
