Noz
I watched an experienced shootist fire a 454. I decided it really didn't look like that much fun!
Utah Bob #35998
Just watched it off the DVR. I'm sorry to see Amanda go so soon, the stagecoach really wasn't a fair test of overall talent, but then again, that is the game. That would have been cool to try though, but really tough for me as I'm left handed. I think they need a special episode or mini series, Top Shot - the Experts challenge. Have all the experts go head to head. Now that would be interesting. Alas, the experts are mature, stable, easy going professionals. Not enough drama there for a show. Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
From Wikipedia: the 45-70 has from 1700 to 3500 ft-lb of energy from a 24" barrel depending on bullet, might also be different if you reloaded them. The .500 S&W has 2300 to 3000 ft-lb from 8 3/8" barrel also depending on bullet. They seem to be quite similar. I suspect your contender would have a bit lower energy because of the shorter barrel, it might also have a more comfortable grip.
