Oddnews SASS# 24779 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 I'm going to start off by saying that the question I'm about to ask may be very, very stupid. Will a Lyman sizing die fit into a Redding-SAECO lubrisizer? I know the nose punches will not interchange because of the screw-in design of the Redding-SAECO, but what about sizing dies? I'm soon going to have to size some .515 bullets for a .50-70, and Redding doesn't make a sizer that large. That pan lubing, which I can do, but hate doing (Or it means I buy a Lyman, but gee, too lubrisizers has to be excessive). Anyway, inquiring half-wits (me) want to know.
Jefro, SASS#69420 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 Check over at Cast Boolits for a feller named Lathesmith, he may be able fix you up if you can't find what you need. He's done a couple for my Stars, very nice. Good Luck Lathesmith Jefro Relax-Enjoy
August West, SASS #45079 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 No. RCBS and Lyman will interchange. Neither Lyman, nor RCBS are compatible with Saeco.
Oddnews SASS# 24779 Posted June 30, 2011 Author Posted June 30, 2011 That's what I was afraid of. I'll check out the Lathesmith guy (and then probably go buy a Lyman, anyway, dangit).
Cusz M. Dutch SASS Life 55326 Posted June 30, 2011 Posted June 30, 2011 A local machine shop should be able to fix you up for a lot less than a new sizer. Just take them in a die that fits and give them the diameter of what you need.
Bottom Dealin Mike, SASS #22273 Posted July 1, 2011 Posted July 1, 2011 Oddnews, Who says two lubrisizers is excessive? I have a 450 for black powder lube and a 4500 for smokeless lube.
Dick Dastardly SASS #45219 Posted July 2, 2011 Posted July 2, 2011 Another vote here for Lathesmith. Chris made me some dies and they are absolutely tops. DD-DLoS
