  1. I've been known to pull all kinds of fun tricks at the office back when I worked. [Retired now ]. Back when viruses on computers were a big issue, I took a screen shot of a fellow employee's screen and made it the screen saver. When she came back after lunch, she freaked out because she couldn't log onto her computer... it was frozen. That's when several of us came out of our cubicles and told her she must have got the virus. We did ease her mind.... eventually. On another occasion, we had a leak in the ceiling of the office area that maintenance had repaired and left one of the damaged panels out. I simulated the leak by hanging a red solo cup filled with water high in the area above the ceiling, with a hole in the bottom of the cup and a string attached, so the water would slowly drip down the string to a trash can on the floor. Everyone thought the leak had started again.
  2. While researching and posting a response to the recent post by @Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 entitled "The Clippers" , I included a short video of the "Flying Dutchman" scene where its cannons are ablaze. Then I thought of @Birdgun Quail, SASS #63663 who frequently posted pics of his own cannons. The question then came to mind: Is there, or was there, ever a 3-barreled cannon?
  3. Noun. honey chile (plural honey chillun) (Southern US, African-American Vernacular) A sweetheart, a darling. To make matters worse, there's even a western themed movie called:
  4. I remember her well. Thanks for the post @Rye Miles #13621.
  5. Possible alternative choice. Anyone have either one?
  6. While I continue my search for a threaded- barrel 22lr firearm and suppressor, thought you might enjoy this take on extremism.
  7. My favorite: The Flying Dutchman The definition of an American clipper ship is a three-masted, full-rigged ship with square sails on each of her three masts that was built for speed rather than capacity. So the designers of the great clipper ships of the 1840s and 1850s sharpened the bow and stern, creating much hollower lines than before.
  8. We've come a long way, haven't we!

  11. Article in the February 2024 issue of Shooting Illustrated entitled "The Shape", by Wiley Clapp about the grip of the iconic Colt Peacemaker. "Aside from those SASS shooters who spend both time and money honing the skills of yesteryear, there's scant practical value to the gun or the techniques of handling same."
  12. @Alpo, Thanks for the clarification. Having never shot a 45 it wouldn't make a difference to me. I understand needing to feel the firearm in my hand and shooting it. As for the "can", I'm only interested in purchasing it separate from whatever firearm I decide to get. The reason for the search for a new firearm is I have none with a threaded barrel. The RUGER® SILENT-SR®, features a standard 1/2"-28 thread pattern for compatibility with most threaded rimfire firearms.
  13. Can't say I didn't warn you. The topic title was meant to be foreboding. "I'll share this harebrained tale"
  14. Jack, a handsome man, walked into a sports bar around 9:58 pm. He sat down next to this blonde at the bar and stared up at the TV as the 10:00 news came on. The news crew was covering a story of a man on a ledge of a large building preparing to jump. The blonde looked at Jack and said, "Do you think he'll jump?" Jack says, "You know what, I bet he will." The blonde replied, "Well, I bet he won't." Jack placed $30 on the bar and said, "You're on!" Just as the blonde placed her money on the bar, the guy did a swan dive off of the building, falling to his death. The blonde was very upset and handed her $30 to Jack, saying, "Fair's fair... Here's your money." Jack replied, "I can't take your money, I saw this earlier on the 5 o'clock news and knew he would jump." The blonde replies, "I did too; but I didn't think he'd do it again." Jack took the money.
