  1. I wonder how you are supposed to mark the envelope when they send you the wrong mail. Let's say I live at 123 Elm Street. And they send me Utah Bob's mail, but it's addressed to 123 Elm Street. That one's simple. I mark it NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS, and put it back in the box with the flag up. But the letter that arrived today, from the county jail, was addressed to 123 Maple Street. I don't want to put NOT KNOWN AT THIS ADDRESS because for all I know they actually live at 123 Maple Street. The sender didn't screw up. Post office did. So I marked it WRONG ADDRESS, put it back in the box and put the flag up. If they lived close - within a couple of blocks maybe - I would just take it over there. But Maple Street is about 5 miles away. I don't get paid to deliver the mail. I've never put something like that back in the box. Every time I've got someone else's mail they've been within a couple of blocks and I just took it to them. What is the correct procedure for trying to get the post office to do their job and deliver it to where it's supposed to go?
  2. A friend of mine was having an argument with his father. I don't like the taste of beans in the chili. You can't taste the beans. Then why put them in there? For the flavor. I don't like the flavor of beans. You can't taste them. He couldn't win the argument because - daddy said so.
  3. That, apparently, is an African fish called the Goliath tigerfish. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hydrocynus_goliath
  4. ^^^^^ Yeah, what he said. A cropped screenshot of my email page.
  5. Few years back somebody posted a picture. He had taken a stock from a Winchester 92 and had attached it to his Rossi Ranch Hand. Asked for opinions. I told him that first it was illegal for the game, but second it was illegal, period, and he needed to get rid of that picture and remove the stock before he got sent to Leavenworth for a long time. He replied that he was in England and that it was legal like that over there. And, like Saul, he said that it was fun. Interestingly, he said that if he had bought a standard 20 inch SRC, and then cut the barrel down, that would have been illegal. And, just like here, it is illegal to put a butt stock on a pistol. But in England the Ranch Hand is not considered a pistol. It is legally a lever action rifle. So replacing the buttstock on his short lever action rifle was perfectly legal.
  6. TCM one time, they told this story about Cary. Said he got buttonholed by a tourist in Hollywood, who asked him if he had seen any movie stars. Said that she had been out there for 3 days and had not seen any movie stars, and was getting very frustrated. And he commiserated with her. Told her that movie stars were pretty good about hiding. He said that he seldom saw any of them just walking down the street.
  7. I thought our game was already based on age. Buckaroos, Young guns, wranglers, 49ers, seniors, silver seniors, elder statesman. All age-based.
  8. The only thing I dislike about the entire movie. Peter Falk, Grandpa, is reading a story to Fred Savage, the sick grandson. And he tells him that his grandfather read him that story when he was a sick little boy. The movie was made in 1987, but the novel wasn't written until 1973. So great great grandpa could not have read it to Grandpa when Grandpa was sick. I hate it when grandparents lie.
  9. I am signed up with a service with the post office. Everyday that I will receive mail - I don't get mail everyday - I get an email telling me that I have mail, including a photograph of each piece. Sometimes there will be something that says "a piece of mail that we do not have a picture was included". That will normally be something large, like a magazine. So this morning I opened my email and I have a piece of mail coming from the county jail. Huh. But I do not recognize the name of the inmate up there in the return address block. I looked down at the TO section, and it is neither my name nor my address. Occasionally I have gotten an email telling me that I have a letter coming for SOME OTHER PERSON at THE WRONG ADDRESS, but I don't get that. So apparently the mailman catches that. Other times I have gotten mail to the wrong person at the wrong address. Sometimes it's the right number but the wrong street, and sometimes it's the right street but the wrong number. If it's close enough I normally walk it down and give it to them. But since occasionally I get the wrong mail I figured that someone besides the mailman packs it for that day. Just don't know who.
  10. When I read your question about meat safe, I immediately thought of pie safes. Pretty much what your picture showed, but to my knowledge they were used to keep fresh baked goods in. The bugs couldn't get in the little holes punched in it but air could get in and out, so your pies or bread could cool. According to this wiki article they were also used as meat safes. This I did not know. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pie_safe
