  1. Unfortunately the dopehead thieves would just as easily have an interest in guitar cases and anything else we tried for concealment that might prove to be of material value...
  2. Hampton Inn in Anthem, just north of Phoenix......
  3. This was at a motel about 4 miles north of Ben Avery. Motel did not allow firearms to be brought into the facility, so they were hidden/secured in the truck. I can get the serial numbers and better description when my neighbor returns. Motel has been used by the competitors for about 7 years now, so logically seems it could be a motel employee who knows/shares info as to who is presently registered, or could be the local gang activity who has learned when a competition is underway to work the nighttime parking lots.......Motel had no cameras in the area of the parking lot.....
  4. Guys, My neighbor who is a world class black powder rifle shooter was at the Ben Avery Shooting Range in Phoenix two weeks ago. Someone broke into the truck and stole a high $$ Sharps rifle belonging to my neighbor, and two other rifles belonging to his friend. A police report was taken, and reluctantly indicated that there has been a number of similar thefts in the area. I would appreciate if those of you in the Phoenix area would keep an ear open to see if by some chance the rifle may be recovered. My neighbor thinks it may already be across the border, but just in case I pray that it may be found. Thanks for reading and keeping this in mind... ADDITIONAL INFO: This is a Shiloh Sharps Model 1877 , A-18, English rifle, Serial number E0118 with extra fancy wood and round barrel. It was stolen from the Hampton Inn parking lot in the Anthem, Arizona suburb. If I can get info on the other two I will provide further .....
  5. Also, the Kentucky business that alleges they have the original cocaine bear on display is badly mistaken. Decomposition for the bear that I transported in a body bag was in no condition to be restored......
  6. As I am the now retired Special Agent of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who was directly involved in the Georgia portion of this case, I believe I can clarify any questions you may have about this incident. I am the person who transported the dead bear to the GBI Crime Lab at the request of Ga. Dept. of Natural Resources in order to determine not only the cause of death, but to also learn more about the age, general health and other factors for game management in the National Forest. Lab personnel were not pleased as the bear, even though in a body bag, permeated the facility with a decomposing stench. It was verified that the bear bit into one of the kilos of uncut cocaine, consuming only 6 grams before succumbing to the fatal dose. Thornton had pushed out a number of parachutes ( 7 that were recovered totalling 810 pounds ) that were connected to three duffel bags filled with 102 kilos all along a route from just south of Atlanta northward to the Tennessee and North Carolina line. Law Enforcement did not recover a large portion of the drugs as hunters and other private citizens stumbled onto the scenes in the wilderness area of North Georgia. There was no other product at the site of the dead bear, only the trash of the ripped open duffel bag. It had rained and light snow on the scene before Law Enforcement was notified of the find, so it is unkown who acquired the kilos from that site. Thornton was ripping off the group that had him pilot the plane, and he only wanted the duffel bag on his back as he parachuted from the plane. Unfortunately for him, as he jumped from the plane, he suffered a head injury, causing him to fail to pull his main chute, only pulling the reserve chute when he was so close to the ground that it did not fully open and he planted his feet about 6 inches into the gravel driveway in Knoxville. The plane, unoccupied and on auto pilot, crashed into a mountaintop due to lack of altitude with no one on the ground injured. I was contacted last year by the producers of the movie "Cocaine Bear", wanting to interview me for the movie. I refused, as I found the plot of that movie grossly pathetic, and I wanted no part of such idiocy.
  7. My wife and I can be walking our dog and having a conversation and SIRI on my I-Phone starts asking questions or commenting about our conversation. Nothing had been opened on my phone, just on. Makes one wonder just how much privacy we actually have. Bet she's heard some blistering words from me on occasion.......
  8. Miss your pomes and words of wisdom......
  9. I went to college with a girl who was in the same condition. She was rolled around on a small skateboard looking contraption, and appeared to be nothing more than a normal sized head and shoulders, but no arms. Her college age sister helped her maneuver. Sure made me thankful for my blessings of health, and heartfelt sympathy for both girls......
  10. Did you know that the voice of Winnie the Pooh was none other than a guy named Sterling Holloway from Cedartown, Georgia......
  11. Lorna Doone, by R.D. Blackmore.......My daughter found a 1st Edition when she was in Nova Scotia and now it is mine!
  12. In September 2023 I bought a six-pack of Stihl mixing oil for my blower, the size for 2 1/2 gallons, for $13.90 with tax. The same six-pack at the same Ace Hardware in December was over $24.33 with tax......should have bought a case in September I guess......That's quite a jump in such a short time.....
  13. Midsouth Shooters Supply currently has a sale with free Hazmat with purchase of $99.00 or more.....Just alerting if anyone needs any supplies at the moment....
  14. The sheriff of one of the counties to which I was assigned as a State investigator offered to pay my rent if I would move to his county and "work" with him. He was one crooked SOB and did everything he could to have me reassigned to a different area when he realized that I was not for sale. His lies in court and refusal to uphold the integrity of his office was rampant. When he threatened to lock up the mother of the county commission chairman if his department didn't get a tremendous raise, she let it be known that if he arrested her mother (who was the local bootlegger and drug dealer) it would be on the front page of the Atlanta newspaper the next day that her mother had paid him $800 per month for protection for years......Money not only talks, it screams loudly, but to me it is just dirty paper.
