Bullett Sass 19707
I have a uberti 1873 rifle that keeps bending the bolt tab. I am wanting to have the tab replaced. Who did you have do it? Did you have to send the rifle? Did it take fitting when returned? And is there an overall problem with the timing of the rifle to bend the tab in the first place? How long did it take to get the bolt back? Thank You Bullett
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life
Don’t know if he still does that but I have had Three Cut repair some for me. He just needs the bolt itself. You will sometimes need minor fitting when it comes back to ensure the profile and length of the tab is correct for your rifle, but not really a big deal. If it is bending regularly then you do have a timing issue that you need to correct before bending your replacement tab. Wear and tear, OOB, bent lifter arm or lever all affect the timing significantly. As far as how fast to get back depends on Three Cut’s health and how busy he is, usually a month or so but last time (1 1/2 years ago) about 4 months. Good work and worth it though. Marauder SASS #13056
The rifle is most likely "out of time" thus bending the bolt tab. You need someone to check and adjust the time as well as replace the bolt tab. Since in the North West, you may check with local folks or Pioneer Gun Works http://www.pioneergunworks.com/
