Texas Maverick
Used to live in Durango and drove that road to Silverton many times. Took the train 5 or 6 times in the time we lived there. Beautiful country. It got that I would drive up to Silverton while friends took the train. That way they could spend more time walking around Silverton and not having to take the train ride back down. TM
Wallaby Damned
Headed down that way next week for some work. Love Ouray dearly. That road (now route 550) is beautiful at all times and a little dicey in the winter time. Great history in the area too
Dantankerous
That area is my favorite place on Earth. Ouray, Silverton, The San Juans... beautiful and full of Old West history. The autumn colors ain't too shabby either. The Durango-Silverton needs to be enjoyed by everyone. What a treasure! Ouray is also called Switzerland of America and the Jeep Capital of America. A very unique, beautiful and exciting place. Great picture!
