Cockney Rebel
I went to a re-enactment yesterday and was immediately told that I looked like Teddy Roosevelt. That got me researching his rifles. Looking to his 1880s time as a Buffalo Hunter it seems that he favored 1876 Express. Obviously these aren’t cheap. Anyone have any suggestions on how I could get a suitable rifle at a low cost. Even non-firing would be an option but shooting blanks would be my goal.
Bailey Creek,5759
Teddy favored. the 45-75. I have two, 1876's in 45-60. One original, one by Uberti. Both of them shoot great. You can form 45-60 from 45-70. Ask on the Classifieds. if anyone has one, they would part with.
H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619
By an Uberti 76 in .45-60. You can make shootable ammo by trimming .45-70 brass to the proper length. They are far less expensive than a real Winchester. Finding a used one might be problematic, but even new ones are not stupid expensive.
