Subdeacon Joe Posted October 7, 2023 Posted October 7, 2023 NINETEEN YEARS OLD! Lieutenant Edwin "Lucky" Wright, age 19, with the flak-damaged propellor of his P-47 Thunderbolt, Oct. 1944. He had just returned from his 39th mission over Munster. This is the 6th time that he had been hit by flak, hence his nickname https://planehistoria.com/was-it-any-good-the-xp-47h-an-experimental-p-47/
Subdeacon Joe Posted October 7, 2023 Author Posted October 7, 2023 Better view. That had to miss the fuselage by about a foot.
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted October 8, 2023 Posted October 8, 2023 Wow! Heck of an aircraft to hold together. Heck of a pilot to get that home. Regards Gateway Kid
