Widder, SASS #59054 Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I plan to soon acquire a new Savage 1911 in .45 acp. And I plan to do a comparison with some of my favorite loads using my BUL, Magnum Research, Savage and possibly my Kimber 'Raptor' model. Accuracy and velocity will be my main test, using sand bags and approx 10 yd target. Do any of you own the new Savage 1911 and if so, what is your opinion of it? ..........Widder

LawMan Mark, SASS #57095L Posted June 19, 2023 Posted June 19, 2023 I have only read about them, haven't had one in hand. The report from Guns magazine is fairly glowing, and they are priced to be in either the upper end of bargain 1911s or the lower end of the midrange guns. They have a traditional extractor instead of the external one SIG and S&W have went with, and I like that. I don't think they will be on Dan Wesson's level, but they will certainly be as good or better than Ruger or Kimber, and the finish should be better than the Turkish or Philippine versions.
