I could be wrong but I believe uberti only made 1873’s with barrels that short. I have an 1866 carbine in 45 colt with a 19inch barrel and it’s short and handy and still holds the 10 rounds for sass competition. You can actually get an 11th in the tube. Any shorter than 18” you have less than 10. And if you’re shooting black powder you need to anneal your 45 colt cases or there’s tons of blowback. 44-40 seals the chamber better. There’s a 44 special uberti 1866 carbine on gunbroker right now.

Abilene, SASS # 27489
I have a 16" Cimarron '73 Trapper in 45 Colt. It holds ten full length .45's but is very tight, so I load Schofields in it. They make those 16" trapper carbines in .45, 44-40, and .357 in both '73's and '66 (.38, not .357 in the '66). They are supposed to have a proprietary magazine spring and hollow end cap to allow holding 10 full length rounds, but I don't think that Uberti always put those parts in. The specs say 9 rounds, depending on where you look, but as I said they were designed to hold ten. There are also 18" '73's available but they will be full octagon or half-octagon. There are no 18" 1866's. Just 16" and 19" round barrel carbines, and 20" and 24" rifles. Good luck. edit: I'm talking about Uberti, Cimarron in particular. Don't know about Miroku.
