Tomorrow is San Jacinto Day, a day that commerates the Battle of San Jacinto which established Texas as a free and independent country.  Some still feel we should be a seperate country--looking at you Blackpowder Burn*

Since it was a mere 185 years ago Cherokee Jones* would be glad to tell you his first-hand accounts of the battle.  Ask him to tell you the one where he helped Deaf Smith burn the bridge before the battle

For the Maroon and White follks it is also Aggie Muster Day

State employees have a holiday on San Jacinto day. We should all have one, here, but sadly, we take president's day instead. A real bummer for the next 4 years...for sure.

Yep, there is an underlying feeling, for us natives, that we just as soon be our own nation again, and that we'd be better off.

I read the other day, that Texas has the 10th largest economy in the world...so we could get along.

Even better since our state legislature meets every other year, instead of year 'round....and even then they only meet for a few months out of the year, and not all year long. Less of an opportunity to foul things up.

The government that governs least, governs best.
