Alpo
Perfect timing for this post. I just discovered a new to me webcomic. it's about an American woman who spent four years in Japan teaching English to elementary school children. https://www.marycagle.com/letsspeakenglish/59-incisive It seems to fit right in with your subject. Forty Rod SASS 3935
My last overseas assignment in the Marine Corps had an added benefit:because of my college degree in English History and Language Arts (dual major) my CO got me involved with the Hiroshima English Cultural Society. Six Americans Marines went from Iwakuni to Peace Park in Hiroshima every Friday evening for almost a whole year. We taught conversational English to Japanese business people, from company presidents to college students who were going to be in business someday. Thirty students from 17 years old to a man of 96 who had been an officer it their medical corps stationed thirty miles west of Hiroshima, and was one of the first people to get into the city after we dropped the atom bomb. It was fun and educational (for me and, hopefully, for the students, too.) They forced me to learn more about my native tongue just to try to explain it to them. O made a lot of good friends and still miss them today.
