Warden Callaway
Back in the 1980s, I shot 100 meter handgun silhouette at halfsize targets and 200 meter handgun at full size targets. I used several different guns. On long range, used Thompson Contender 14" in 35 Remington. I was using hard cased 200g gas check bullets with hefty load of 3031 on turkey and rams. But they made me stop using that load because it was catering the targets. It was the only gun that would reliability knock down the rams. On the farm we regularly shot at railroad plate at 100 yards with S&W 29 4".

Shooting skill used to be about accuracy. R, long range events are typically reserved for multi day matches. Usually annuals, state championships and up. You can integrate a long pistol target as a bonus as part of a stage at a local match. At the end of the day this is cowboy action not a bullseye competition.
