Painted Mohawk SASS 77785
Howdy Just ordered myself the Marlin 1895CB in 45-70 with the 26'' barrel. In Australia we shoot a lot of Pat Garrett matches which is using the extra rifle in rifle calibre. Sometimes we may shoot 10 rounds..my question is seeing as it holds nine , can you make it load 10 by using a smaller bullet or change out the mag spring, could the brass be shortened slightly & still function ? Any ideas or input appreciated ? Most times it is loaded with 6 & any reloads are done at any time after the buzzer, just would like to load the 4 first & shoot the 10. Sedalia Dave
I have one and 9 rounds is all it will hold. If your OAL is is even slightly over the max you may not get all 9 rounds into it. To get 10 rounds into the magazine you would have to shorten the OAL of each round by 9.5mm.
Chili Ron
Howdy, A friend of mine is very happy with and often shoots his single shot 45-70. He likes to really focus on each round and that seems to give him fine results. I don't know the rules on your contest....why does loading 10 give advantage? Best of luck CR
