Trigger Mike Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I froze some cranberries last Christmas. Are they too old? If so what will happen? Bad taste or bad for you?
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Freezer burn is a combination of dehydration and oxidation. It won't make the food unsafe but it will change the flavor. The dehydration will make the flavor more intense but the oxidation might send the flavors off. If there are only darkened spots you can discard those spots. then it's up to you whether of not to use the product. I would unless it was blackened by the oxidation.
Trigger Mike Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 They worked out fine. I had bought extra for this year just in case but the older ones were great. thanks all
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted November 29, 2013 Posted November 29, 2013 A manual defrost freezer stores better than an automatic defrost freezer because the temperature and humidity remain more consistent.
