Gunner Gatlin, SASS 10274L
Pretty sweet - kinda surprised it shootin' 255gr projectiles at over 1000 fps, but it's probably safe I reckon... GG ~
Adirondack Jack, SASS #53440
The New Frontier is generally thought to be stronger than "regular" Colts, along the lines of say an L frame S&W for strength. No Big frame Ruger, but not in the same league as a SAA or clone. Brian Pearce did a good write-up on "warm" mid-range loads for .45 Colt and .44 Special, and used a New Frontier in .44 special to push 240s and 250s a HAIR over 1000 fps (not 1300 like ya can in big ruger though, LOL). Driftwood Johnson, SASS #38283
Howdy I keep hearing this business that the New Frontier Colts are supposed to be stronger than a SAA. However the metalurgy and dimensions of the cylinder are exactly the same as the same generation SAA. Some also claim the beefier top strap makes the gun stronger, but the cylinder is the pressure vessel and has to contain the pressure of the fired cartridge.
