el Gato Gordo - SASS #15162
My father was a pilot with the 384th Bomb Group (heavy), 546 Squadron, in World War II. The 384th BG Association is sending a wing panel from a B-17 around the country so that surviving veterans of the group can sign it. I was privileged to receive the wing this past Monday and facilitate the signing by one more veteran, Don Thompson. I hope you enjoy the pix: Don signing B-17 wing panel B-17 Wing Panel Close up of Squadron Emblems
Four-Eyed Buck,SASS #14795
Doesn't seem to be many signatories from what I see there. So many are gone already. My neighbor growing up was 8th Air Force, bombers, ground crew, IIRC. Wish I could've gotten him to talk about his experience with me. The heavies took a real beating early on. Very high casualty rates

Darn! This is scary ~ I know the words and the melody! Also it is one of the mood-setting songs on the movie "12 O'clock High," with Gregory Peck.
