Preacher Clint
Quick question about these. I purchased one of these a few weeks ago and am just getting around to working with it. It has a safety bar hammer, so slam firing is not possible. It also has no safety notch or half cock hammer position. Is it possible to carry this rifle safely with a round in the chamber with the hammer down (say in a hunting situation)? The rifle I bought had been factory refurbished and did not function when I got it. A very thorough cleaning and it seems to be operating fine. Keeping my fingers crossed. It's a 45LC Carbine model, so I'm thinking of restricting it to smokeless. Any thoughts?

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
It has a transfer bar so it is possible to carry it with the hammer down. But you can sure do a lot better for a hunting rifle.
Buck D. Law, SASS #62183
From what I have seen, the resident expert here on the Wire regarding all things Lightning related is Deadeye Dallas. If I were you, I'd PM him and present your questions directly to him. Here's his profile.
Captain Woodrow Cahill, SASS # 54363
What's the reliability / shootability record of these? Did Beretta de-bug the slide rifle and get it right, or was it just as problematic as all the other attempts?
