Bob Knapp .. "Winchester Bob" http://winchesterbob.com/ has a neat supply of parts for the Winchester Model 92's ... many of which will fit the Rossi 92's. We found that on the .38/357 Rossi the magazine follower for the .25-20/.32-20 Winchester Model 92 is just right. It is the same diameter and length as the plastic thing the Rossi's use. It is a tad smaller on the inside, but I was able to easily "thread" the magazine spring into it. It works fine and looks so much better than what the Rossi factory used.

The Winchester followers won't work in all Rossi 92's. The small one sometimes protudes too far into the receiver so that once the gun is empty the follower blocks the carrier from coming up. The large one doesn't alway protude enough. With some Rossi's the last rounds doesn't get pushed onto the carrier enough and will also block the carrier.

Cimmaron sells a mag spring that collapses into itself that they put in their 16" 73's and 66's. if you were to use that in conjunction with hollowing out the mag tube cap you should be able to get ten in there. You can call Cimmaron and order the spring. It may take a few tries to get someone on the phone that knows what you are talking about but stick with it.

Deuce,

Even with that spring it usually doesn't work out. It works for the 66 and 73 because the last round is on the carrier. With the 92 the last round is half in the tube when loaded and comes back as the lever is opened. In other words the 92 loading gate would need to be about half a round farther back in the receiver.

If you use 38's loaded to about 1.35 max OAL along with that spring and cut about .125" off the back of the follower it will work. But, most 92's don't run fast with ammo that short. They tend to thow live rounds out is run fast.
