Manatee Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 "ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Don Meredith, one of the most recognizable figures of the early Dallas Cowboys and an original member of ABC's "Monday Night Football" broadcast team, died Sunday. He was 72. Meredith's wife, Susan, told The Associated Press on Monday her husband died in Santa Fe after suffering a brain hemorrhage and lapsing into a coma. She and her daughter were at Meredith's side when he died."

Bart Solo Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 I will miss Dandy Don. I loved his work on MNF. He never took the game too seriously.

Panhandle Will, SASS #49418 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Watching the Cowboys in the Meredith years provided a great bunch of memories... he and Bob Hayes took the "Bomb" to a whole different level! I also remember the night Sam Huff (Redskins) turned out Dandy Don's lights - BOOM! It was a brutal hit... He took the field against the likes of Bart Starr, Sonny Jurgensen, Johnny Unitas, Fran Tarkenton, Roman Gabriel & Joe Namath! He took the field with the likes of Don Perkins, Cornell Green, Bob Lily, Dan Reeves, Chuck Howley, John Niland & so many other great players! My mother and late father met him in a restaurant in Taos several years ago & my mom told him, " We loved watching you play and I never boo'ed you, Don... " He smiled big and told her, "well I appreciate you, Ma'am..." He was loved by many, and will be missed! RIP Mr. Meredith... Best to all, PW
