  1. Sunday and weekday, hands down was Rick O'Shay. Great story lines and impeccable artwork. A close second was Peanuts. Did the Silly Putty thing a couple of times, but usually didn't have any.
  2. That was "Bloody Ludlow." Then there was the West Virginia Coal Mine War, with Blair Mountain and Matawan. I've posted several times about Athens, usually in late July or early August. It has some similarities to situations now.
  3. Paper bags or wallpaper remnants.
  4. "Paddle to the Sea" through maybe 4th grade The I found the Edgar Rice Burrows "Princess of Mars" series and got hooked on science fiction. Devoured Azimov, Heinlein, Anderson, Norton, et al.
  5. As I said, "Carefully and with great agility!"
  6. It's FRIDAY! Everyone in the wedding ceremony was watching the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle to give away to the groom. They reached the altar and the waiting groom; the bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand. Everyone in the room was wondering what was given to the father by bride. The father could feel the suspense in the air and all eyes were on him to divulge the secret and say something. Therefore, he announced, "Ladies and Gentlemen today is the luckiest day of my life." Then he raises his hands with what his daughter gave him and continued, "My daughter finally, finally returned my credit card to me." The whole audience, including the priest, started laughing. For some strange reason, the poor groom didn't.
  7. At least it's not a "tunic" from the Blues and Royals or the Royal Artillery.
  8. Be positive about yourself. Say, "I cleared out space in the freezer" rather than "I just polished off a couple of pints of ice cream."
  9. Bigger than an Orange TREE or a Lemon TREE (although those are very pretty)
  10. Carefully and with great agility! Going down the antique adult tricycle rabbit hole I found
  11. I just found it on Instagram and thought, "THAT'S COOOOOOLLLLL! I bet it would be appreciated in the Saloon." Went to the Tube of You and searched Antique Adult Tricycle and PRESTO! Glad you liked it.
  12. I get that it was really stupid, with a capital idiotic, for him to not tell POTUS about going into the shop, but it's not like he's one of the Joint Chiefs. Day to day, even week to week, stuff is in there hands, or should be. And Hells Bells! Look at the "global unrest" WHILE he was at the helm! He seems more interested in DEI (I get a chuckle of the Latin genitive of Deus in this context) and "combating climate change" than in maintaining a strong military.
  13. “With his bayonet he killed 5 of the enemy, and when it was broken, used the butt of his rifle, capturing 15 prisoners.” Born in what is today Serbia, Aleksa Mandušić, know as Jake Allex, joined the US Army in Chicago, to fight in World War 1. In the Battle of Amiens, early August 1918, allied troops were pinned down by intense German machingun and artillery from a “a bare seventy-five-foot-high ridge" — Chipilly Ridge. Three Battalions of Americans from the 33rd Infantry Division are assigned to take this ridge. With all his officers killed or wounded, Corporal Allex takes command, leading his men in an assault on the ridge: by sheer force of will, blood, and steel, Allex leads the charge — alone for the last 30 yards. The Americans seize the ridge. His Medal of Honor Citation: “At a critical point in the action, when all the officers with his platoon had become casualties, Corporal Allex took command of the platoon and led it forward until the advance was stopped by fire from a machinegun nest. He then advanced alone for about 30 yards in the face of intense fire and attacked the nest. With his bayonet he killed 5 of the enemy, and when it was broken, used the butt of his rifle, capturing 15 prisoners.” Raising to the rank of Sergeant during the war, he died in Chicago in 1959, at the age of 72.
  14. I was shocked , confused, bewildered as I entered Heaven's door, not by the beauty of it all, nor the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in Heaven who made me sputter and gasp-- the thieves, the liars, the sinners, the alcoholics and the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor who never said anything nice. Bob, who I always thought was rotting away in hell, was sitting pretty on cloud nine, looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus, 'What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here? God must've made a mistake!.' 'And why is everyone so quiet, so somber - give me a clue.' 'Hush, child,' He said, 'they're all in shock. No one thought they'd be seeing you.'
