I will just call Lee to work out the problem with why the primer piece keeps jumping off the pin and falling to the floor. It works great for everything else. TM Quote

Same wear marks, lines up to the left of the groove/slot in the press frame. on the back side of the ram tube/shaft is a slot of some sort. I did not look thoroughly at that slot and that maybe where a "pin" or some kind of "something" resides to hold the primer ram in (?). Please excuse the lack of technical terms. I will check to see what you are talking about on the backside. Do you just sit your primer piece on the little pin inside the slot and it stays in place? TM Quote

Do you just sit your primer piece on the little pin inside the slot and it stays in place? TM Texas Maverick My primer piece fits into the ram slot and "hangs" on a pin(?) of some sort. It does occasionly slip out, but I have gone many reloading sessions and it stayed put. I don't understand what I'm doing that makes it come out, but I put it back in and it works fine until "the next time". I'm busy tomorrow, but I'll try to investigate the opening on the backside of the ram and see if I can see any "special" thing to watch out for. But from your photos, your press looks just like mine. What we think of as "wear marks" are really just the way the press is made; the red paint just stops at the point wear the primer piece hits. Not a wear problem as I see it; that area was never painted. I've had my press since 2017 and Lee has made a few changes to their presses, so my press is "old school" compared to what Lee has in stock now. Plus I'm so cheap that if it ain't broke don't fix it! Hang in there, Pard. Quote
Wrangler Bob Posted December 23, 2024 Posted December 23, 2024 Texas Maverick: Hope this isn't too long. From instruction sheet sent with my Lee Value Press and four hole turret. The piece that falls out is called a "PRIMER ARM ASSEMBLY" [ there are two: large and small primers]. From the instruction sheet: " orient the primer arm assembly at the 7 o'clock position inside the ram". The primer arm is held in place in a groove cut into the press ram [ 2 o'clock position of ram; ram in top position of stroke]. There is no pin, the slot cut into the primer arm fits into the slot of the ram and "hooks" on to the ram. This took an inspection mirror to see with and without primer arm in place. It "maybe" the slot on the primer arm is broken or bent, not allowing the primer arm to "seat" in its slot. Or there maybe some dirt or debris in the slot of the ram. Hope this helps; sorry I'm not proficient in sending photos. Hand in there, Pard. 1 Quote
