You can use them for S&W or S&W Long, just need to "adjust." I will have to check them out. I use Lee dies for everything. I didn't think they made a "Factory Crimp Die" for the 32S&W, but I know they have a few new products, and it's almost Christmas!

Not sure if they make a FCD for this caliber or not, but I think they do. But I have found that I don't need a FCD with the straight wall cases. In any event, this .32-20 one MIGHT be able to work with these if there is enough adjustment available. I've just never tried.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
This one is 20+ years old. Works fine on the H&R Magnum.

We have one of those, we use for the 32H&R, but I believe it is too long to use with the 32 S&W shorts. I started to investigate the possibility of turning it down on the lathe to make it shorter, but life got in the way and the project got sidelined. Might be time to restart the investigation. Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Why bother? The S&W is so short the factory crimp die would do little if any good. PLUS if you shorten the Long/Magnum die you will destroy the carbide sizing portion of the die and what you will have left is just a bullet seater. I think I had pretty much come to that conclusion about the time I stopped my investigation, but it was years ago and my remembery on that subject is less than perfect. Since it would only be a revolver cartridge, I guess it really doesn't need a roll crimp anyway, but it has become my habit. Thanks for the info! You are always a fountain of knowledge! Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
AHH you are not concerned about the sizing portion of the die. You just want a roll crimp. The crimp is applied by the collar under the adjusting screw. Red arrow. The carbide ends where the green arrow is pointing. If you have a lathe I would take a parting tool and cut off the carbide portion of the die. Dress the end to remove sharp edges and then just adjust the crimping portion of the die that you have left after cutting off the carbide. With the S&W you may have to remove even more off the die body if you can't get a good crimp but that would be an easy facing operation after the carbide section is removed. "Dress the end to remove sharp edges"...Chamfers are what separate us from the Animals... Thanks for that information! I had been thinking along those lines, especially every time I have to clean the wax out of that collar. Might have to get a second die to "customize" because I certainly don't want to mess with Holli's reloading setup. That won't end well at all!
