VihtaVuori Loads

Recommended Posts

Long time ago I had a pamphlet from VihtaVuori with Cowboy Action loads. I’ve moved and can’t find it.

so, looking for loads for .44 Russian and .45 Schofield using 200 gr lead. I think I remember the load for both was 3.2 grains of N320.

Thanks for any help.😃

I'll be interested in the replies to this one myself.  I tried loading N320 in 38 special with 105 grain bullets, and 3.5 grains of powder.  Shot nice, but very dirty.  I could see unburned powder coming out of the barrel of my pistols.  I have used N320 for 9MM and 40 in the past, but at much higher pressures than we use for cowboy loads.  I'd like to use it since I have several pounds of it, but haven't been able to make it work for me yet.

It's actually a very clean burning powder, reason why yours is dirty is not enough powder or change the bullet to a 125 gn, or crimp it harder.

I've loaded N310 and it's clean with 3.0 gns of powder

I just started using 320 and I have to load at 3.8 g to get a clean burn with a 125 bullet and I still don't get near the velocity as stated in their chart.

I'm  loading 3.2gr N320 with a 125 coated bullet and a Federal magnum primer - don't know the velocity but they are consistent and burn very clean, no powder flakes.  Here's my pistol and rifle brass from yesterday, with a few random ones mixed in.
