Dapper Dave Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 8 hours ago, Kid Rich said: Just for reference. The Casa Grand range has 5 bays. At their annual shoot they have 10 stages for main match, Wild Bunch, warm up stages and side matches which include Long range, take no prisoner and a few other things. This is all accomplished on five bays in three days. I have been there when people got irritated and when they left they spun out and sprayed the cars and cowboys with gravel. I have also seen people that refused to leave and caused a scene, in spite of being told politely when the range would be back open. I also have never been to a match when visitors were turned away if they were willing to abide by safety rules. Again, the range with all ranges labeled. I would never and have never ever done anything remotely that stupid or dangerous, and we were polite and courteous. If my mentioning this is causing a problem, I'll leave, I don't mean to cause any stir. I don't lie - working around professional liars for 22.5 years has pretty much burned that out of me. But again, I didn't mean to cause problems - if me being gone would bring the place back to normal, please let me know.
Dapper Dave Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 Thank you all for the welcome and the advice, if I see you again, I'll give ye a friendly wave.

Sorry you had a bad experience, I don't think you would find that again. kR
Dapper Dave Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 I only briefly mentioned it and it apparently became a big issue. Oh, well, not going to beat a dead horse forever. Time to go load some more rounds, because I got my new issue of Black Powder Cartridge News magazine. Hopefully my buddy gets back to me about getting certified to teach black powder for 4H. I guess I have a few things to keep me busy nowadays, still have 5 years until retirement - is there a SASS outfit near Kilgore, Texas? Might be retiring out there, might have more time to spend. But if not, no big deal, will be buying enough land for my own range anyway.

Though there are clubs that put on matches that are rather...private...little affairs...so... Phantom
Dapper Dave Posted July 7, 2024 Author Posted July 7, 2024 I'll believe it - the last match of any kind I was in were IDPA style matches when I worked at Jensen's indoor range in Tucson 23 years ago. Since then, all I have done is shoot at the range, fun or load development. It is rare for there to be anyone with me other than my son or my wife.
Dapper Dave Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 Getting back in the spirit of things, as the temp dropped to a comfortable 101 this morning. That big Uberti New Model Army is quite accurate, love it, and with that conversion cylinder it is just more fun per pound than a WHOLE lot of other things!

Dapper Dave Posted July 12, 2024 Author Posted July 12, 2024 Would it be OK to come up and look around first? I've been to Rio, nice place. Angus from CZ-USA shoots there a lot. Thank you very much for the invite, sorry I missed it this month. I will put it on the calendar!
Colt Laredo Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Dave, Your more than welcome to come to the match and watch. It's a great time to ask questions and see what equipment we use. Aug 3 is our next match. Contact me if you have any questions. Colt
Dapper Dave Posted July 18, 2024 Author Posted July 18, 2024 Interesting - a good buddy of mine, gunsmith in Mesa, (REAL gunsmith(, told me he has a Marlin .357 lever I can borrow anytime. Pre Remington, not a Remlin. I might have to take him up on that.
Dapper Dave Posted July 31, 2024 Author Posted July 31, 2024 Sunday is comin' fast, lookin' forward to checking this out!
