The rest of the carcass is left alone and washes up on shore. This particular method is relatively new. Similar to how @Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438 said this particular method of damaging the rudder first is relatively new. Compared to the less frequent accounts in the past where orcas would hole the hull as discussed in the link @DeaconKC posted.
