I found on FB a drawing of the Japanese battleship Yamato illustrating the hits she took.

Naturally I had to look up other information about her.   There was in the specifications about her what aircraft she carried.  That got me wondering (oh lordy!  I'm starting to sound like Alpo, not that I a bad thing) about Imperial Japanese aircraft designations, e.g. A6M, B5N, and so on.  That took me to https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_military_aircraft_designation_systems#:~:text=Imperial Japanese Army Air Service,-The Imperial Japanese&text=Assigned letters included 甲 (Ko,became prominent in later years.

In which I found names like Henkel, Severski, Hawker, Boeing, Vought, and other western manufacturers.

Joe, Speaking of Musashi, if you haven’t already seen this Paul Allen documentary, it’s well worth the time to view. Fascinating.

I don't know where they got the 35 torpedo hits and 19 bomb hits.  Those numbers are significantly higher than any other source I've read.

Wikipedia has "Yamato was hit by at least 11 torpedoes and 6 bombs. There may have been two more torpedo and bomb hits, but this is not confirmed."

Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_battleship_Yamato#Operation_Ten-Go  and it references Dulin & Garzke's Battleships:: Axis and Neutral Battleships of WWII

+1. This link agrees with my sources of 19 torpedoes and 17 bombs, which is still an extraordinary number. Perhaps the diagram is showing ordinance dropped, but not necessarily hits.

There was no attribution, just the drawing.  Maybe it was what was claimed?  Nah....pilots never exaggerate!

ADDED:  A quick gloss through online articles makes it look as if someone took the hits on both Yamato and Musashi and added them together.
