the TO should visibly see the time entered, score keeper needs to show the entry to the TO.. scorekeeper needs to visibly look at the timer. I like the idea of bluetooth the time directly to the ipad but I have a hard time investing in 10-12 new timers.   If procedures are followed it is not an issue. even with the bluetooth time the TO and scorekeeper still need to confirm misses/penalties.

I've been learning the SASS Premier software for our club as our longtime scorekeeper transitions his responsibilities to a new generation of volunteers. It has given us the opportunity to update both our SASS Premier system and several of our internal club processes.

 

What I've discovered is that SASS Premier is far more than a match scoring program. While everyone knows it records stage times, it also includes hundreds of features that can simplify club administration. If you're willing to invest a little time learning what it can do, you'll find it to be an invaluable tool for everything from membership management and annual dues invoicing to match registration, reporting, and, of course, scoring.

 

I've encouraged CD Tom and Misty Moonshine to offer a SASS Premier class at Land Run. Most of the opposition I've heard about the software haven't been about what it can do—they've been about not knowing that a feature already exists or how it works. It's easy to say, "Our club doesn't do it that way," but some of these tools can save volunteers a tremendous amount of time. For example, automatically generating annual club dues invoices is something every club should consider.

That program has been around for sometime, may have started as "Roundup" and is Computer based.   Cost is just over $300.   Requires you to manually enter scores in batches, or use another program to gather the scores and transfer.

 

Most clubs have gone to a more accurate "tech based" scoring system that people talked about above,  Practicescore or Cas scoring.   Those are all tablet/app based.  Scores are captured and recorded at time of instance.   More accurate.    I have found from being a match director for over 20 years, that the "keying" in from paper is where the errors happen.    Once we went to the digital/tablet based scoring, most errors disappeared.
