Trigger Mike Posted September 6, 2021 Share Posted September 6, 2021 I have a ruger lcr 9mm. It shoots fine but I want to tighten it up. For example, a Sig 938 likes 124 grain hornady but a glock 43 seems to like hornady lite 9mm. What seems to work best in a short barreled revolver? Pat Riot Posted September 6, 2021 Share Posted September 6, 2021 Ooh…good question, but I have a feeling the best answer will be try a few different self defense factory loads to see what works best in your particular revolver. I know how hard it is to find SD ammo now, but this is the only way you will know for sure. A revolver shooting 9mm has the same characteristics of a revolver shooting any other cartridge / caliber. They like what they like. The perfect example of this is the gun store counter guy that told me that “Speer Gold Dot HP ammo is the best and most accurate round I have tried in my J frame carry guns. You’re gonna love it!” It may have been accurate from his guns but my 2 J frames were not impressed and showed me by patterning like a shotgun…at 30 yards. This isn’t the guy’s fault for recommending that ammo. It’s just that my 2 J frames didn’t perform well with that ammo. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
