Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
My landlady is city fireman, now for a year and a half. Today she apparently had a proficiency test with the year old ladder truck. And what better place to train than your own three story building. Good place to check out the roof too. Came out with the captain and a trainer and did all the things to level the truck and run the bucket from the bucket. quite a show really.
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
The bucket had an anemometer and today had a lot of wind gusts. full extension of the ladder would be 135 feet.
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103
We trained with both ladders and elevated platforms. It's impressive to turn loose a straight stream from the monitor nozzle and feel it shooooooove you waaaaay back when you're up at full extension. Wind gusts at that height, with that hydraulic arm looking mighty spindly under you, is not encouraging!
Snakebite
I was Engineer on a Ladder Truck. Yes, the Monitor was fun!
