I have never understood state run liquor stores.

Coming from California it was hard to get used to the state run liquor stores here in south west Utah. Markets could only sell what is called three two beer  (lower alcohol content). Could't get my favorite Pacifico or Newcastle cause they didn't make the lower alcohol content. The law changed a couple of months ago and you can now buy real beer.

Can't get wine at the market so we have to plan ahead and keep some stocked cause my wife uses red in some of her cooking. Prices are generally $2-3 higher for any of the lower end brands compared to CA. Hard liquor is about $5-10 higher per bottle depending on the brand. Sometimes they have a sale but then the supply goes quickly as people take advantage. AND, there are only two state liquor stores around here, one in St. George and one in Hurricane. They close at 7pm and Sundays and major holidays. There is another very small one inside a gift shop in Springdale (Zion National Park), but that's a good 45 minute drive.
