Loophole LaRue, SASS #51438
I'm reloading some .380 ammo for the first time (not my first time reloading - just my first with .380). My Lyman manual, for this particular bullet (95g FMJ), says the OAL is .900. That's where I set my die. Problem is - it just looks wrong. All other bullet weights in the manual call for substantially longer OALs - more in the range of .980. I compared my finished round with rounds by two major manufacturers, using the same size bullet. They are also longer than the OAL per the manual. I'm using Win 231, so I went to Winchester's data; using the same bullet, they call for OAL of .970. Could Lyman be this far off? Or am I missing something? Much appreciated. LL

Dakota Rebel, SASS# 58412
My manuals call for a .980 oal. Some brass is thicker than others and can cause the case to bulge when you seat the bullet. I had some Hornady brass that bulged and the gun would not go into battery. Something to watch for.
Stubborn Dutchman, SASS # 61363
I'm using Lee dies, and a Lee 102 gr. RN bullet. Powder is, True Blue. My OAL is 0.980. A fun load to reload and shoot. Never had a problem with the reloads.
