Inexpensive CAS knives

Recommended Posts

I received an email from "Kennesaw Cutlery" the other day and they were having a pretty good sale.

I bought the following knives for so little $$ it didn't seem they would be worth spit!

Top knife is a Damascus blade "Colorado Hunter"......$62.98

Second is a "Colorado Yellow Bone Bowie".....This one cost a whooping $8.98!!!!

the bottom one is a "Timber Rattler Pioneer Skinner" ......again, a wallet depleting $8.98!

All came with real leather sheaths and the quality is quite amazing..............All made in Pakistan..... :-(

Those look like some good knives fer the gold! I bought a damascus bladed knife from Cheaper-n-dirt a while back. It had a deer antler handle. I think around $45. It was from Pakistan too. ( a month after I bought it, "The Shootist" had a picture of the same one on their magazine cover! )

Not a great piece of steel, and I need to make a better scabbard for it, but it looks real purty an' makes a decent toothpick in a pinch.

ol' poke.

This would be my 'expert' pick... and possibly a true collectible of the future.

Your mileage may vary.

Knives greater than 7 1/2 are way, way... too long... IMHO. I got a bunch longer... but that decreases the utility value... just my opine here... if ya will.

When sellin' knives... and I have sold 'bout $300k worth... the price is GENERALLY equal to the quality... AND.... the handmade time it takes to make 'em.

Lately, I place a great stock in knives... 'cause mostly... I am under scrutiny of the ATF. Just my opine.

I went to Kennesaw's website and after reading the OP and found me a Bowie to put on my belt. It is the Timber Rattler Cocobolo Bowie. An expensive $8.98. That way if I mess it up I won't be to unhappy. The have some other more expensvie knives that look nice and I will probably order some after the Christmas expenses are done.

Won a Timber Rattler bowie as a door prize at a recent match. Looks real cool, bone handle. Scabbard is not the best quality. Can't offer an informed opinion regarding the quality of the steel - but probably not bad for a ten dollar knife.

Yup, these are "Costume Knives".........Nothing more, nothing less. Although I used the Damascus bladed knife to cut up some venison just for hoots and that blade is razor sharp and held the edge for the entire process.

I had to modify the sheath with a strip of leather and a snap to stop it from turning upside down when on my gun belt.
