Sagerider
I am interested in buying an older roll-crimping tool for 16 and possibly 12 gauge shot shells. These tools will typically be hand-cranked and originally made for crimping paper hulls. Lyman tools would be great but any maker will be considered as long as their condition and value does not make them candidates for Smithsonian Museum viewing. I'm not working my way through college but the gold pan is far from full.
Castalia,SASS#18915
Sagerider, Balistic products make a roll crimp that is used in a drill press or with a hand drill that works very well. I use one for my black powder loads . I trim the cases below the old folded crimp and roll new crimps after placing a card wad over the shot. The shells come out about 2 1/2 in long and work very well. Ballistic Products also make a shot shell trimmer that is great. The older hand crank tools are hard to find in good shape and are mostly for show. I have added the link for Ballistic products. http://www.ballisticproducts.com/-Roll-Crimping-Tools-/products/128/ Good luck with your quest. Charlie MacNeil, SASS #48580
Lots of 'em on eBay... Just for show? Not hardly. I bought one a couple of weeks ago, and it does a very nice job of roll crimping plastic hulls...
