Slap Happy Pappy #24722
My Rossi has had an action job and was about the smoothest rifle I have ever shot. Then I got a brain storm and loaded up some 357s with a 140 grain Leverlution bullet and a bunch of H110. I fired a couple of rounds(2 to be exact) and now my Rossi does not run so smooth. It cycles the bullet in, shoots straight as an arrow but when I go to eject, the last half an inch seems to jam up and you have to push the lever pretty hard for the casing to come out. It also does not eject the way it did before. My question is, does anyone else have any experience with this problem? Is it possible for a 357 load to cause a problem like this? I usually only shoot 38s for cowboy and have never had a problem. Please let me know what you think.
Cypress Sam, SASS #10915
Since 357 cases are 1/8" longer than 38 special cases, a ring of carbon builds up at the point where the 38 case ends. When you shoot 357 without cleaning out this ring of carbon, especially hot loads, the case expands into the carbon ring, making it hard to extract. Capt Stephen D Hill, SASS #56151
If you continue to have a problem, contact Nate Kiowa Jones, the '92 Rossi Specialist. If he can't fix it, no one can!
Big Jake1001
Clean the chamber with a bronze chamber brush, get the guck out and it will run and eject those .357's. Big Jake
Slap Happy Pappy #24722
You know, it wouldn't be so bad except I took it to a gunny and he sends it back to me doing the same thing, and charged me 37.00 to boot. Nate may be getting a package real soon, as soon as I find the box for the rifle.
