Castalia,SASS#18915
I have a Marlin 1894 in 44Mag. with a slight barrel bulge about half way down. The culprit was a squib. The next shot was fired. OOPS. No bodily damage just clang, clang, oops, real big clang, Stop. Now I need info on getting this fixed. Anyone know somebody in Tucson or close by. Thanks, Castalia
Gold Canyon Kid #43974
A good buddy did that to his Marlin and shipped it to Marlin for a new barrel.

Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
If its just a slight bulge, have you tried shooting it? With lead bullets at CAS velocities a lot of guns with bulged barrels shoot just fine.

Castalia,SASS#18915
No Larsen I have'nt tried shooting it since the incident. I just might take it out to the range this week and do some testing. I have a bunch of 44 special loaded up and that just might do the trick. Wish me well. DocDisaster # 45431
Plus 1, if the bulge is mid way down the barrel it should not dramaticaly effect the accuracy especialy at SASS distances. Doc Plus 2, shot a marlin for three years after a bulge then sold it for a 73. New owner has shot it ever since, its had a bulge for at least 8 yrs and I know of several others shooting rifles with tha same. RRR
DocDisaster # 45431
In the day we had even kept Revolvers in-service for training that have had bulged barrels that maintained accuracy out to 25 yards on a man size target. A nick on the crown will be bigger problems than a bulge halfway down the barrel Doc
