  1. @Alpo, Maybe this will help. Intravenous (IV) therapy is administering fluids directly into a vein. It benefits treatment by enabling water, medication, blood, or nutrients to access the body faster through the circulatory system. A transfusion is the simple addition of one substance to another regardless of the source (actual donor or IV drip), without the creation of something new. When the tube is inserted in a vein, it's adding more blood to existing blood. However, with an IV drip feed of medicine, for example, it's technically called an infusion, as it alters the state of the blood. In other words: " If I gave Hardpan some blood straight from the source, that would be a transfusion , whereas if Hardpan had a package bag of morphine blood hanging on a pole draining down into him, that would be a(n) infusion . "
  2. A huge, burly guy with a six pack and muscular biceps had set up a stall in one corner of an open air flea market with a basket of beets. He boasted to the curious onlookers that he could squeeze the last drop of liquid from a beet and threw a challenge that anyone squeezing another drop would be rewarded with $100. He set a small amount of $1 as entry fee for the competition. A number of curious onlookers accepted the bet but left with embarrassment at their failure to squeeze even a hint of juice. Then came a small sized guy with a frail body structure. To everyone's surprise, he squeezed not one but half a dozen drops of liquid from the beet already drained out by the burly six-footer. The distraught challenger paid the prize money but, out of curiosity, asked him what he did for a living. “I am from the Internal Revenue Service.”
  3. Getting ready to punch the order button on these, as they can also be shot in my pair of Ruger Wranglers.
  4. Thanks for the heads up @Subdeacon Joe While gardening and putting in plants around the house, I'll keep a watchful eye out for any of them. Being I'm no longer in school, I'll find a policeman to tell. AND. I'll be sure to post a picture here on the SALOON, asking for your assistance in properly identifying same.
  5. If I'm not mistaken it looks like Mr. Death is staring down at anyone attempting to climb his mountain!
  6. The issue of carbon buildup was raised by @The Original Lumpy Gritz in my previous post as it pertains to cleaning your 22cal firearm. Which 22 ammo do you find has the least amount of carbon buildup. I will yield to your experience in this matter and appreciate any input.
  7. @The Original Lumpy Gritz, Simple, one-button takedown for quick and easy field-stripping and proper chamber-to-muzzle cleaning. Pressing a button in the back of the frame allows the barrel-receiver assembly to tilt up and off the grip frame without the use of tools.
  8. Mount Everest It seems strange and impious that these bodies are just left there. But they are in what is called the death zone. That's the altitude where, without supplemental oxygen, you keep dying during every second you're up there. Even with supplemental oxygen, everything you have to do is an incredible effort. Your body struggles with even its simplest tasks at that altitude, like eating, digesting, sleeping, and wounds don't heal either. If you must enter the death zone, it is advisable to spend as little time there as possible. That is why body pickup is rarely done. https://allthatsinteresting.com/mount-everest-bodies

  10. @Rye Miles #13621, If cloudy weather is getting you down, here is a list of the sunniest places to live. Personally, I would prefer a mixture of both. https://a-z-animals.com/blog/discover-the-10-sunniest-cities-in-the-us-with-over-280-sunny-days-a-year/
  11. @watab kid, I originally posted for suggestions from Pards who may have already purchased a 22cal with a suppressor, and what they found to be a good match. My original search via the internet entailed asking the same question. Eventually I honed in on the Ruger Mark IV 22/45 Lite, but am open to others. If a LGS carried one that I could at least try and I didn't like it, I would further my search.
  12. I fell asleep at "But wait… there’s more!" I did read it all!
  13. My issue right now is having called several of the LGS and Big Box Stores [Sportsmans Warehouse, etc.] none of them have the firearms I am interested in trying.
  14. When I was stationed in Turkey back in 1974, I thought I had time-traveled back to the 50's. I was wondering where all the classic cars from that era had disappeared to, and Lo and Behold their afterlife turned them into taxis in Turkey. You would see them on any road wherever you went. Never rode in one myself though. If you are wondering what a "dolmus" is, they were usually mini vans that would travel a particular route [ like our buses stateside ], and they would pick you up anywhere [ no designated stops ], for a small fee and drop you off.
  15. The pastor asked an older farmer, decked out in bib overalls, to say grace for the morning breakfast. "Lord, I hate buttermilk", the farmer began. The visiting pastor opened one eye to glance at the farmer and wondered where this was going. The farmer loudly proclaimed, "Lord, I hate lard." Now the pastor was growing concerned. Without missing a beat, the farmer continued, "And Lord, you know I don't much care for raw white flour". The pastor once again opened an eye to glance around the room and saw that he wasn't the only one to feel uncomfortable. Then the farmer added, "But Lord, when you mix them all together and bake them, I do love warm fresh biscuits. So Lord, when things come up that we don't like, when life gets hard, when we don't understand what you're saying to us, help us to just relax and wait until you are done mixing. It will probably be even better than biscuits. Amen." Within that prayer there is great wisdom for all when it comes to complicated situations like we are experiencing in the world today. Stay strong, my friends, because our LORD is mixing several things that we don't really care for, but something even better is going to come when HE is done with it. AMEN!
