I only shot grooveless bullets for years. After my favorite (Precision Bullets) went out of business, I've been getting them from Slippery Bullets. Great bullets and even better prices!

Totes Magoats replied to boom pop's topic in SASS Wire Classifieds
@boom pop If you don’t find a used one. Dewey Knife Works makes great screw knives! He always supports our club annual as well with donations. https://www.facebook.com/100063557681040/ -
Thank you, Flat Top! I appreciate the clubs efforts taking another look and soliciting feedback. I look forward to the WB match next year! Totes

LAND RUN 2026 SASS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Totes Magoats replied to Flat Top Okie's topic in SASS Wire
@Flat Top Okie Is this decision to move WB days "set in stone" for Land Run 2026? I can only shoot one out of state annual a year, this might push us to Bordertown for 2026 if there is no chance the dates for WB will be rolled back to previous years. Totes -
LAND RUN 2026 SASS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Totes Magoats replied to Flat Top Okie's topic in SASS Wire
It's going to have the opposite effect on me. It will keep me from shooting WB as I would need to take 2 additional days off work. Monday for 2nd day of WB and Tuesday for a travel day. I can't help but think others will be in the same boat. It was easier to fit everything in with only take 5 days off work including travel days. Totes -
I use the plain Kirkpatrick butt covers as I prefer not having seams/stitching at the shoulder end of the cover. They cal also laser engrave your alias or brand/image now. There are plenty of folks that do custom work if you are looking for engraved fancy/colorful. i.e T-Star, Ricochet Roy, Michigan Rattler, Lar Fitzgerald, etc. Totes

Totes Magoats replied to Dragon Hill Dave #59561's topic in SASS Wire
Wish we could make the 2026 match. The 2025 annual was great! The Cabs have really spent a lot of time and money on range and match improvements! Totes -
SASS Southeast Black Powder Territorial Championship?

It's always cold up there in the North at those higher elevations! 🤠 Totes -
+1 on looking for a Browning! One of my favorite rifles in my collection is the '86 High Grade Browning in 45-70. I also have a Chiappa '86 in 45-70 with MVA Soule sights. It's is very accurate. I don't want an '86 with a tang safety and that was a huge factor in deciding which model to get. Totes

Plainsman rifle caliber recommendation
Totes Magoats replied to Choctaw Kid Tulsa's topic in SASS Wire
IMHO, a short barreled, auto cocking Browning/Miroku low/high wall in traditional category is probably the fastest. A good throw of the lever will kick out the spent brass and cock the hammer. I also hear Lee Shaver makes an auto cock mod for the Italian rifles as well, but have never seen one. Choose a caliber that would match other side matches/rifles you might want to shoot (Long Range, Cody Dixon, Teddy Roosevelt, etc). Makes reloading simpler. Totes -
I like the same stock my rifle has. Pistol grip for me. I have a short thumbed friend that likes the straight stock shotgun. #BIP. 🤠

Which 1911 would you buy for <$1000?
Totes Magoats replied to Notso Slim, SASS #67301's topic in SASS Wire
I like the Tripp Research Cobra magazines with the hybrid followers. They have been great for me in both production and custom 1911's. They also support our club's annual match with donations. Totes -

~$1K? A Colt series 70 and 300-500 rounds of ball ammo to run through it. Then a YouTube video on adjusting the sear spring. You'll be all set for WB after that. Totes -
What brand and model bluetooth timers are you all using?
Totes Magoats replied to Ciderbarrel's topic in SASS Wire
We use the Competition Electronics ProTimer BT with Practiscore and Kindle Fire tablets. Works great! Totes -
Are you talking about the metal snap caps? I use dummy STS rounds with a pencil eraser jammed in the primer pocket and have not seen this issue. Totes

Hyespeed, Not sure your shotgun budget or if you are looking for a single/double trigger, but Johnny Meadows has a couple Baikal's all slicked up and ready to race on Gun Broker. Right at the $550 mark. If that's in your budget, it would make a great scatter gun. Totes

I bought a Bond Arms competition spring and it helped. Then a pard told me he used a SP101 spring. I had one from a pack I got from Wolfe. It was even better. No idea what lb they are, but I like it. Totes

I've used Trail Boss and of course BP and the BP subs. All my pards around here swear by Unique. I picked up a pound to try out, but have not shot any of them yet.

I've got a few and want more. The waiting is the worst. I read somewhere that the silencer shop was offering refunds of the tax stamp if HPA is approved. Not sure if it was for a specific period of time or during their holiday sales. It's the wait that prevents me from getting more, not the $200 Tax Stamp. If they both go away, I may have to get another safe. Totes

Improved C&B Loader?
Totes Magoats replied to Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933's topic in SASS Wire
I have the Tower of Power has well. It hangs up a bit when all the way down or all the way up. I too would pay to have it converted to a better working loader. -
HyeSpeed, I went through a few grips before I landed on the ones I have now. Like everything else, it's what 'feels' right in YOUR hands. I prefer a fatter grip with lots of checkering (grippy) vs. a smooth slick grip. The ones that come on the SASS set have very fine checkered so see how you like them when you shoot them. The set currently on my Rugers are from Altamont. As a contrast, my wife started with the Long Hunter SASS set. After a year, we sent them to Boomstick to half-cock and short Stroke since she started slip hammering. Now, we are sending them back to Boomstick to convert to Birdshead grip frames and she will switch to a slick pearl grip. It's all what feels right to YOU.
