Yep If you can find them, the Troy Cowboy shot shells are noticeably lighter than the AA Featherlight.

Easiest way to drop from 7/8 to 3/4 oz and maintain the stack height is to add a pinto bean to the shot cup before adding the shot.

Impress Your Date, Pick Her Up In a Rolls

If you let your date fire a belt or two through that Maxim they'll have a grin from ear to ear. -
Drop a Pinto bean into the shot cup before adding shot. Will allow you reduce the shot charge to 3/4 ounce without changing the stack height.

Stuck spring screw Uberti 1873... I know not a new problem

Note about the 50/50 ATF / Acetone mix. If you want to make a batch you have to store it in a can with a tight fitting cap. Otherwise the Acetone evaporates relatively quickly. I have an old acetone/paint thinner can that I store it in. -
What would have happened if the US had lost at Midway?
Sedalia Dave replied to Chantry's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
In my opinion, Japan's goal at Midway was to draw out America's carriers so that they could be taken out. Due to the logistics tail I doubt that Japan really thought they could take and hold Midway. Japan wanted Midway as a staging area so that they could hunt down America's carriers. Once the carriers were out of the way, There was no real reason for Japan to expend vast resources holding Midway. What everyone has forgotten so far is the US submarine fleet. With or without carriers, our subs would have made it too costly for Japan to hold Midway. Without our carriers, taking the fight to Japan would have been logistically impossible for at least a year. This would have given Japan time to secure its foothold in China, the Philippines, Indonesia, and possibly Australia. Had Japan been able to secure the necessary natural resources to build up their military and defend their holdings, getting the US to agree to a favorable peace deal was a real possibility. -
Honda hit the Shelby but it was the Shelby's fault. Looks to me like the Shelby was attempting to make an illegal U-Turn.

When installed in a progressive press, you can control the crimp of the Lee FCD just like any other die. Adjust by screwing in or out till the crimp meets your needs. In a Single stage press, you can control the Lee FCD die the same way or you can screw it in further and control by how hard you push on the ram.

Three schools of thought. One is that full tanks don't get condensation. True but the flip side is that if the tanks are cool when filled and then it comes a hot day the fuel will expand and you'll have fuel leaking out the tank vent. You have to drain the sumps anyway as part of the preflight, so condensation is not really that big of a problem. Carrying fuel you don't need to reach your destination is expensive because the extra weight increases fuel consumption. Lastly the weight of the fuel may cause the wings to sag and possibly start leaking. During all my time in Naval Aviation we never topped off the tanks after landing. We did do a check of fuel load during post flight and if necessary add fuel to reach what we called the ramp load. Two reasons for this. First there was enough fuel that if the AC had to depart in an emergency there was enough fuel to reach one or two pre-planned destinations. Second was that only one fuel truck was needed to fully fuel the AC. When I worked P-3 and EP-3s the AC was capable of taking on more fuel than one fuel truck could provide. Because fuelling was time consuming, we always made sure that the AC could be bagged out (max fuel load) using only one additional fuel truck. Ramp loads were almost always carried in the fuselage tanks and not the wings as the wings tended to leak when fully loaded.

What would have happened if the US had lost at Midway?
Sedalia Dave replied to Chantry's topic in SASS Wire Saloon
Had Japan succeeded in Midway and destroyed our carriers. I'm betting that they would have either withdrawn or stopped further advancement and concentrated their efforts closer to home. Japan's priority would have been securing access to the natural resources of China and Australia. While further strengthening their military and shoring up the their bases. If Japan took this course of action, the US would have concentrated on the European theater and Australia would have been in a serious pickle because there wouldn't have been a reliable way to send them supplies. Japan would have been in the position to force an end to hostilities that would have given them what they wanted. Which was control of China and the Western Pacific. -
Switching speed doesn't matter as the generator has to start up before it can supply a load. It won't start until after the power has gone off.

The Battle of Walker's Creek: A Pivotal Moment in Texas Ranger History The Houston Morning Star described the Walker's Creek fight, also known as the battle of Pinta Trail Crossing, or the battle of Cista's Creek, or the battle of Sisters Creek, as "unparalleled in the history of this country for the gallantry displayed on both sides, its close and deadly struggle, and the triumphant success of the gallant partisan Captain of the West." This fight marked the first time an entire company of Texas Rangers used Colt revolvers in combat. In his report, Hays commented, “I cannot recommend these arms too highly.”
