  1. wonder if he would do a 'road trip' to the colonies and work on ours? all that but he can't shoot! bummer
  2. FWIW my pard, just this past week sold his, after 4 years and countless trips to the gunsmith he gave up on it. Will say he never sent it to the gurus of Lightnings just the ones he could drive to here in Houston--doesn't trust sending them by mail. For him, there was a 'sweet spot' in working the slide and he never could find and stay there during a run. I've been playing this game for over 20 years and have only seen one cowboy with a fully functioning Lightning. Another pard said they were built for bottleneck cartridges, .44-40s, and straight walls have problems--the one mentioned above is a 45 Colt version.
  3. nice looking scattergun I find reloading is as much fun as shooting wait till you start to roll crimp--that's a blast (pun intended)
  4. just spit-balling: some gunk had a chance to dry on the moving parts and slow things down. we tell our members (I'm newsletter editor) in cold weather to clean firearms and use graphite or sewing machine oil which is very thin. "Normal" (whatever that means) lube will thicken and slow things down. so will the sewing machine oil but it's already as thin as water so not as much a problem
  5. â–² this is just one reason I never plan to leave the U.S. ever again (probably could say that about leaving The Republic, too) The last time I left I ended up with people shooting at me--trying to kill me! Almost succeded three times. This boy is staying home
  6. one thing about front sights--Ubeties and the like have very narrow front sights--many cowfolk will put an aftermarket one on that dramatically thickens them. another cost to consider
  7. I bought supplies/equipment from Ballistic Products that do about the same as you. Don't have the skills and tools to make my own equipment I always get favorable comments when I bring a few out to shoot one thing I do is take a narrow strip of paper, use old targets as I like the thickness of them, and make a sleeve to hold the shot. probably not needed but adds to the fun of loading them
  8. my thought was the OP was referring to single action as that's what we use. agree with the thoughts above: attend a match, shoot a few--we cowfolk love to help the new shooters cr
  9. It's an honor to be among Heros like these
  10. Here in The Republic, we have plenty of Sun--free, too. If I wet tumble too late in the day the brass comes inside under a ceiling fan for the night. have plenty of brass so don't need to use the wet ones in a hurry
