Bitterroot Jake, SASS #9532
For you Marlin expert, I just pickup a Marlin model 1893 in 38-55 at local gun. In pretty good condition, has been refinished sometime in the past(owner said he has had it for at least 10 years). Serial number is 143xxx. Marlin Safety steel marked on top of receiver, serial number is on the bottom of receiver below the barrel. Any help would be appreciated, I have been unable to narrow the date down. All the information I find is general area and for serial numbers with A,B,C&D prefixes. Also would this gun used regular length or Long 38-55 brass? PWB, Thank you for the link. I was able to verify that my Marlin was manufactured in 1891. BS
