How about if instead of banning guns, restricting ownership of guns or passing storage laws that only apply to guns (not drugs, alcohol, bows or knives) and other items which are generally in already locked homes. we take those who use guns in a criminal manner and shoot others, or those whose past behavior warrants limited or non ownership of firearms or scumbags who break into another persons home to steal somebody elses hard earned property including firearms and throw their sorry butts into jail for a significant (non-negotiable) period of time. Then after say 10 or 15 years we see how that works out. We often spend 20 or 30 years creating bogus "studies" of ineffective, mistargeted and clearly unconstitutional laws that uniformly vilify firearms but never trash the laws themselves (which don't reduce crime anyway) Bet I can guess which will be more effective in curtailing criminal behavior.
