Forty Rod SASS 3935
I have seen people find when a gun was made by researching a serial number list somewhere. I have Colt Detective Special that I recently got for a very fair price and I'd like to know about when it was made.

Forty Rod SASS 3935
1956. Thanks, Alpo. I was 14 years old and Dick Tracy had one of these on a TV series. I was mostly doing cowboys then, but Tracy was a favorite. I've wanted a Dick Special ever since. Now I have one....and a bonus That was the year I bought my first gun, an early second generation SAA" almost completely worn out 5 1/2 inch .45 with cracked and badly repaired 2 piece ivory grips. It came with a ratty holster and cartridge belt and a box of 409 rounds, all for $22.00 and a 3% Utah sales tax. I've owned a few 5 1/2" .45s SAAs since then, even took one to 'Nam with me, and have two now. My first love and first gun, both from the same time period. I think I'll excuse myself and go spend some time grinning. Thanks, again, Hoss.
