Trailrider #896 Posted December 31, 2017 Share Posted December 31, 2017 A domestic case turned into an ambush shooting of five Douglas County officers this morning (Sunday, Dec 31), which left one officer dead, four others wounded, plus two civilians wounded. The perp was shot dead...finally. This area is normally quiet with very little crime. It was reported that the shooter had a rifle and over 100 rounds fired (not sure whether than means the shooter fired 100 rounds or that was a total.) One resident of the apartment complex who was away from his place, arriving in the area while the battle was going on, said it sounded like 20-30 shots, then more, then a pause and then more shots fired. The deceased officer was 29 years old, had been on the Douglas County Sheriff's Dept. for 7 months. He leaves a wife and two children! Officers advised people in the apartment complex to "shelter in place, stay away from windows, and outer walls of the building."
