Cat Brules
Encore Western Channel is screening "Lonely Are the Brave" this week. A modern western, set in the "current" time period (released in 1962), portrays Kirk Douglas as a cowboy who isn't quite functional in modern society. He's jailed for a bar fight, breaks out and goes on the run on horseback from the sheriff, equipped with cars, trucks and aircraft. A very good film. They'll show it repeatedly. Cleburne, SASS # 39597
It's a great, albeit sad, movie. One of Hollywood's best films in my opinion. Thanks for the heads-up!
Bugs Bonney SASS # 10171
A good movie with great acting and a stupid premise. If the cowboy's only way out was to cross that road why didn't the Grumpy old man simply wait for him there rather than chase him up the mountain? Then The helicopter wouldn't have been shot, Kennedy wouldn't have been buttstroked and Archie Bunker would have delivered his privies without incident. Jess Money
Strange movie. I had it recorded and kept going back to other programming. It took me three nights to finally see the whole thing. Strange movie. Walther Matthau wasted a role and Carroll O'Connor was wooden. The only bright characterization was of a bumbling Bill Bixby fighting an M-1 in the cab of a truck. Strange movie.
