Okoboji Kid
Remember it well. The plane crash was only 30 miles from my home town of Clarion. I was a junior in high school at the time and frequented the Surf Ball Room on several occasions in my high school years. Buddy Holly was one of my all time favorites--still is. Somewhat ironically, "The Buddy Holly Story" is playing live now at the Riverside Dinner Theater here in Fredericksburg, VA. We'll be going to see it in the next week or two. Saw this show 20 years ago at the Kennedy Center. It's really good.
Bugs Bonney SASS # 10171
It is hard to say enough about Buddy Holly. Hew and his music inspired so many people and so many musicians. Even the Beatles said he was one of their heros.

Charlie Plasters, SASS#60943
Stopped in at the Surf Ballroom this past summer - it is still a functioning venue. And what a great layout. I think it can seat several thousand and all the seats have a good vantage to see the stage. The dance floor is amazing!
