Major Forsyth
Pards, Bought a 16 ga Win 97 SN from 1930. Stripped it, parkerized it, replaced several parts. Looks great, shoots but... The left and right extractors will not hold the 16 ga shell firmly against the bolt face. But, it does hold a 12 ga firmly. This results in the hulls not ejecting properly. I've replaced the left extractor and the right extractor spring. I'm wondering if someone put a 12 ga bolt in the shotgun to sell it. Wondering if any of you 97 users might have some thoughts. Thanks in advance Major Forsyth
Yul Lose
I had that problem on one of mine and it was indeed a 12 gauge bolt that had been substituted for the 16 gauge. I changed the bolt out and put the left and right extractors in the 16 gauge bolt and it fixed the problem. I did have to open up the left extractor just a hair with a file to get it to grip the hull properly.
shortround
What some people do these days Auction arms usually has a lot of 97 parts for sale. I have a 1903 take down 97 in 16 and love it. Shortround
